Responsible Gambling
Last updated 15 October 2026
Betting should be entertainment, never a way to make money or fix money problems. 18+ only.
Keep it in control
- Set a budget before you start, and stop when it is gone.
- Never chase losses or borrow to bet.
- Set a time limit and take breaks.
- Do not bet when upset, stressed or after drinking.
- Use the deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools that licensed bookmakers must offer.
Warning signs
Spending more than you planned, hiding betting from people close to you, betting to win back losses, or feeling anxious when you are not betting. If any of these sound familiar, it is a good time to pause and talk to someone.
Where to get help
- Gaming Commission of Ghana, the regulator of betting in Ghana. Check that a bookmaker is licensed by it before you use it.
- Gamblers Anonymous (free, confidential support worldwide): gamblersanonymous.org
- BeGambleAware (advice and self-help tools): begambleaware.org
